Bookworm

K is funny. For years he's been computer-phobic, insisting that he hates them because when things go wrong, people always blame their computer. So he's had a hard time getting on the e-mail bandwagon, and has refused to ever do anything on the computer. He acted like it was SO difficult to learn, and he just had a mental block against it.

Now he's interested in looking at colleges for The Boy, and found that he can do it most easily on the computer. Now it's not difficult to learn anymore! So now he's using the computer for hours at a time sometimes, wearing his glasses and peering at the screen, and The Boy is asking when he can get on. It's like the world has turned upside down!

Also he's started to read books. This is someone who almost never read books before. Maybe Sports Illustrated or the box scores in the newspaper, but books? Not so much. Now he's gone and gotten a library card, and is checking out books and reading them at home! It's just so cute to see him there, sitting and reading with his little glasses on. He just finished reading about the Rolling Stones, and now he's reading about Jimmy Hendrix. He's says he's found a new toy.

Now he's asking me questions like, "What kind of books do YOU like to read?" It's just funny knowing someone for 26 years and then having them ask that question.
